PB Works
WHAAAAAATTTTTT???
Where have you been hiding? I know I know right in front of my face. But this site is an amazing collaborative tool in the classroom and online learning environment. I can upload assignments, create a course syllabus, add announcements, create a timeline of when assignments are due, offer instructor feedback, change who can edit the page, create student user names and passwords, create pages as to who can add and edit content and WOW so much more.
I cannot wait to work in a professional setting or a classroom that allows me to use this. Is there a place in Head Start? Pondering the possibilities..... I came up with using this site for the following:

I cannot wait to work in a professional setting or a classroom that allows me to use this. Is there a place in Head Start? Pondering the possibilities..... I came up with using this site for the following:
- Connecting information to parents
- Adding content to learning activities in the classroom
- Creating a community resource page
- Adding a questions, comments and concerns page
- Ask your teachers page
- Outline the course curriculum through the year
So you got me. Now I am a "tweeter" a twitter follower. I created a page and checked a few pages I would like to follow only based on my current interests and of course listening to the radio. Hash-tag this and follow us on is very prominent in commercial media. I have avoided at all cost using this application because I have yet to see the real world importance, prevalence or need for this rant site.
I am still trying to figure out how I would use this application in the classroom other then responding to questions, adding events, assignments and so forth. If this is the case I feel there are more tools available that will serve as the same purpose. However, part of teaching in the 21st century is connecting to the learners and if this is their chosen medium of collaborative content and connectivity then as an educator I have to bite it and accept my role to facilitate learning in this forum.
Challenges: Creating the page is very basic and user friendly, there is not that much forethought going into setting up the page and creating a following.
Forgetting a password, there is a simple reset but until you are a full fledged tweeter you might have to check your spam box. I resubmitted a password submit 4 times before I realized it was being sent to my spam folder.

I did link my Google profile to my twitter account but I do not think that it is showing up on this blog.

Using Wikis
This week was my first week actually creating and using wikis. The last time I used a blog site was when yahoo 360 was still available and that was more of a random vent or online journal for myself. I created a blog, twitter account page earlier this week without further clarity or definition to what the intended purpose and direction of these applications would be for further use throughout the course. After watching the video provided by the instructor I now have some further clarity. I deleted my original post from this blog and am starting fresh.
Technical difficulties: the "t: button on my laptop has decided it does not want to stay in place. No big deal who needs that letter anyway?? Well lets give it a rough count as to how many have been used in this post.
So far and my count many be off but I counted 54 not including this comment-so I guess we need the letter "t".
Challenges: From my original blog being one of random thoughts I titled it as such. Now I am not sure how to change the name of the blog without creating an entirely new one. I did notice using PBSworks there is a tab right beside the title to change the name of the page. This means I can change the name at any point in time as the blog or collaborative tool develops instead of the need to create a new page for each blog as defined.
